Bates College sophomore Kaelyn Woods, of New Gloucester, will compete in the NCAA Nordic championships in Colorado.

Woods, the daughter of Bates coach Becky Woods, led the Bobcats in every women’s Nordic race this season, and also took first place in the Chummy Broomhall Cup – the Maine state championship. Her best freestyle results were eighth place at St. Michael’s and ninth place at UVM. Her best results in classic races were sixth place at Dartmouth and ninth place at UVM.

Woods is a two-time winner of the Maine Sunday Telegram high school girls’ skier of the year.

The NCAA Nordic events will be held March 8 and 10 at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs.

The Bobcats will also have sophomore alpine skier Griffin Mueller, of West Vail, Colorado, compete in the NCAA championships on March 7, at Mount Werner, and 9, at Howelsen Hill. Mueller is particularly strong in the slalom.
