Two York County men were arrested this week after allegedly robbing a Waterboro coffee shop at knifepoint.
Adam Jalbert, 27, of Waterboro and Coty McGahey, 30, of Saco were arrested Tuesday, the day after the robbery at the Aroma Joe’s on Main Street in Waterboro, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office. The men were arrested Tuesday and arraigned in court Wednesday, according to York County Sheriff William King.
The robbery was reported at 8:45 p.m. Monday. Deputies who arrived to investigate were told a suspicious vehicle had been in the area just before a man appeared at the takeout window, displayed a knife and demanded money, King said.
A state police K-9 team tried unsuccessfully to track the suspect and deputies provided other departments with a description of the vehicle and suspects. Video surveillance obtained by investigators provided many viable leads, King said.
On Tuesday, a state police trooper stopped a vehicle matching the description of the one seen at Aroma Joe’s before the robbery. That stop led to the arrest of Jalbert and McGahey.
Jalbert’s bail was set at $10,000 cash or $50,000 real estate during a video arraignment Wednesday. McGahey’s bail was set at $15,000 cash. They are scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court on Nov. 15.
