Old Orchard Beach police are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a home on Cascade Road on Monday evening.
Capt. David Hemingway identified the two as former Old Orchard Beach Town Councilor Dana Furtado, 44, and Amber Morrow, 21, of Saco.
Hemingway said their deaths do not appear to be suspicious, though the circumstances remain under investigation.
Police were called to the home at 83 Cascade Road by family members and friends who found the bodies Monday after being unable to contact Furtado or Morrow over the previous day or two, police said.
Hemingway said officers arrived at the home around 6:45 p.m. and saw no evidence that would lead them to believe the deaths were suspicious.
“There was no indication of anything out of the ordinary,” said Hemingway, adding that police have ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning.
The bodies will be examined by the state Medical Examiner’s Office, Hemingway said Tuesday night.
According to Furtado’s website and Facebook page, he had operated a building and roofing company called D.M. Furtado and Daughter since 1997.
In June 2013, Old Orchard Beach residents voted to recall six of the town’s seven town councilors, including Furtado. The vote was the culmination of seven months of discord in Old Orchard Beach politics.
