U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin will host a town hall-style meeting Tuesday evening at Central Maine Community College in Auburn for a discussion on the opioid crisis in Maine.

According to an announcement posted on the Auburn Police Department’s Facebook page, the purpose of the meeting is to offer a “safe, supportive space for families to come together and learn proven prevention strategies” being used to combat the opioid epidemic.

Operation Community SAFER – which stands for Supporting Area Families Enable Recovery – will also provide affected families with a list of local addiction treatment and recovery resources.

Families affected by addiction will tell their stories and prevention, treatment and health care providers will be at the forum.

The college is located at 1250 Turner St. in Auburn. The meeting will be held in Kirk Hall and run from 6 to 8 p.m.

Poliquin, a Republican running for re-election in Maine’s 2nd District, is a founding member of the Congressional Bipartisan Task Force to Combat the Heroin Epidemic.
