Windham and Raymond residents will vote June 14 on a budget for Regional School Unit 14 – and whether to keep voting on the budget every year.
The proposed school budget for 2016-2017 is $43.1 million, up about $1 million or 2.5 percent.
Contractual increases in salaries and benefits account for the majority of the increase.
The district is also proposing to add the equivalent of about four positions, including a middle school teacher, a fourth-grade teacher, part-time special education and physical education teachers and a part-time academic interventionist.
The proposed budget’s estimated effect on the tax rates of the towns would be just over 30 cents per $1,000 of valuation in Windham and just over 22 cents in Raymond.
For the owner of a $250,000 home, that would mean an increase of $76 to the tax bill in Windham and $56 in Raymond.
Voters will also decide whether to continue the annual school budget validation process, a question that is asked in every district every three years.
