BRUNSWICK — An eight-person committee wants to make sure the fifth anniversary of the closing of Brunswick Naval Air Station will not pass unnoticed.
The group is planning a reunion for anyone who served on the base, either in the military or as a civilian employee.
The base was officially closed on May 31, 2011, following a 2005 decision by the federal Base Realignment and Closure Committee.
“It’s about bringing back friends, and making friends and memories again,” committee spokesman Jeff Simpson said Feb. 25.
The reunion will be held the weekend of July 15, in an event tent next to the former base chapel at 179 Admiral Fitch Ave. The schedule includes bowling at Yankee Lanes, golf at Mere Creek, a catered dinner by Ned’s Bakes & BBQ, and a Sunday chapel service.
Commemorative patches and coins can be purchased for $10. Online registration is available at BNASreunion.org.
