WOOLWICH — Katherine L. Gott, age 91, died in Woolwich, Maine, on January 25, 2016. She was the daughter of Chester M. and Helen (Scheib) Gott. She was born in Arlington, MA on July 30, 1924, and lived in West Springfield, MA, from 1962 to 2013. She attended schools in Arlington, MA, graduating in 1941. She received her B.S. in Ed. in 1945 from Boston University, her Ed.M. in 1955 and her CAGS in 1969 from U. Conn. She taught in Oak Bluffs, Wrentham, and Winthrop before coming to Springfield in 1957. She was instrumental in establishing a Learning Disability Program in Springfield and retired as a Special Education Supervisor in 1985. She was an active member of First Park Memorial Baptist Church and a member of Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

She is survived by her sister, Marjorie, and her husband, Rev. Clayton Reed of Bath, Maine; her niece, Claudia, and her husband, Reid Hatch, of Woolwich, ME; her niece, Andrea, and her husband, Edward Freeman, of Brighton, MA. She leaves her grandniece, Wendy Harvey, and her wife, Peg Gagnon, of Westbrook, ME: her grandnephew, Marc Harvey, and his wife, Betsy Roter, of Bradford, MA; her grandnephew, Joshua Freeman, and his wife, Diana Freeman, of Malden, MA; and her greatgrandnephews, Lucas and Asa Harvey.

Kathie was a member of First Park Memorial Baptist Church where she served as Moderator, Deacon, President of the Women’s Fellowship Guild, Financial Secretary, and on various committees. After moving to Maine in 2013, she became a member of the Day’s Ferry Congregational Church in Woolwich.

A Memorial Service will be held for Kathie on February 13, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. at the Day’s Ferry Congregational Church, UCC, in Woolwich, ME. A committal service will be held later in the spring at West Lawn Cemetery in Littleton, MA.
