BATH — Arvilla Ames, 93, died on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.
She was born in North Newcastle on March 21, 1922, a daughter of Thomas Edward and Belle Hardy (Knowlton) Yarbrough.
She attended Whitefield schools and on Nov. 15, 1941, married Charles Linwood Ames.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening and harness racing.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Linwood Ames on Dec. 27, 1985, and daughter, Sandra Lynn Ames.
She is survived by two sons, David Ames of Buckfield and William Ames of Pemaquid and Florida, three grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren, two greatgreat grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in the spring.
