Cumberland County officials are looking for a man who reportedly tried to lure a 12-year-old boy into his vehicle while the boy waited at his school bus stop Tuesday morning.
The boy reported the incident to school officials once he arrived at school; the school immediately reported the incident to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
According to law enforcement officials, the boy said he was waiting for the school bus near the intersection of Route 85 and Plains Road in Raymond when a vehicle pulled up next to him and the driver told him his family had had a medical emergency and he needed to get in the vehicle. The boy refused and walked away. The driver drove away.
The vehicle is described as a newer white, full-size GMC cargo van with dark tinted rear door windows. There were no other windows besides the front passenger window. The only other distinguishable feature was multiple antennas on the van’s roof.
The driver was described as a white male, middle-aged and bald with an unshaven face.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have seen the incident or who may have information about the van or suspect to contact detectives at 774-1444, ext. 2112.
