CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Sigi Koizar made three 3-pointers and finished with 22 points Friday to lead the University of Maine to a 64-53 victory against Harvard in a nonconference women’s basketball opener.
Koizar scored seven straight points during a 12-0 second- quarter run that gave the Black Bears a 31-19 lead with 1:44 left in the half.
Maine led by at least seven the rest of the way.
Mikaela Gustafsson and Chantel Charles added 12 points apiece for the Black Bears and Liz Wood finished with five points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals.
CASTLETON STATE 43, SOUTHERN MAINE 28: Jade Desroches scored 14 points for the Spartans, who opened with a 13-2 run and cruised past the Huskies in an opener at Salem, Massachusetts.
Reserve Alexandra Srolovitz scored seven points to pace the Huskies, who shot 18.2 percent from the floor and trailed 28-10 at halftime.
ST. JOSEPH’S 53, WELLESLEY 47: Kelsi McNamara made a 3-pointer to break a 47-47 tie with 2:10 left and the Monks held on in an opener at Saratoga Springs, New York.
Norma Waggett paced the Monks with 16 points and nine rebounds, and McNamara added nine points and four assists.

COLBY-SAWYER 81, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 72: Wol Majong scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as the Chargers erased a 43-34 deficit to rally past the Nor’easters in an opener at Biddeford.
Devin Thompson paced the Nor’easters with 17 points.
Jean-Luc Parker added 17 points, five assists and four steals.
ST. JOSEPH’S 88, HUNTER 81: John Crawley scored 23 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Monks, who used a 26-6 run over the final nine minutes of the first half to pull away from the Hawks in an opener at Biddeford.
Andrew Ruffen added 19 points and four assists and Craig Luschenat chipped in 13 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Monks, who led 51-35 at halftime.

BOWDOIN 3, UMASS-BOSTON 0: Christy Jewett finished with 13 kills, 14 digs, two aces and three blocks as the Polar Bears (24-4) defeated the Beacons (12-16) in the opening round of the NCAA Division III tournament at Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Bowdoin will face Babson (28-8) in the second round at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The teams met one time in the regular season with Babson coming away with a victory in five sets.
