Southwesterns unfolded at Noble on Saturday morning, a prelude to the state championship at Mt. Ararat on June 6, and Thornton Academy took both the boys and girls crowns home.

Rivals Scarborough did what they could on both fronts, the gentlemen Red Storm coming closer to the champs than their lady counterparts managed to.

A number of individual athletes made their names across multiple events, or maintained the high level of performance they’d demonstrated at previous meets, including South Portlanders Michael Cuesta, Daniel Guiliani, Lauren Magnuson and Juliana Selser. From Scarborough, Maxim Doiron, Sam Rusak, Hugh McSorley, Gabby Panagakos and Sarah Rinaldi, among others, continued to look strong.

Westbrookers Maurice Johnson, Halee Phelps and Kelsey Cavanaugh had solid meets, as did Gorhamites Jesse Southard, Anna Slager and Kristin Benson.

Bonny Eagle’s Eddie Maxwell, Joe Elsemiller, Kyaunna Libby and Kialeigh Marston continued to impress, and so did Windham’s Ernie Ruby and Alexis Wintle.
