South Portland High School’s jazz musicians brought home three trophies from the 47th annual Berklee High School Jazz Festival in Boston.

The competition is the largest of its kind in the nation, attracting 3,000 students from 13 states and Puerto Rico, according to a news release from the Berklee College of Music.

Directed by Craig Skeffington, South Portland’s large and small jazz ensembles each brought home a second-place award from the Jan. 31 festival.

Alex Quinn, who performed in both ensembles, won an Outstanding Musician trophy.
