Police suspect foul play in the death of a Peru woman whose body was found in the kitchen of her home Saturday.
The woman was identified by Maine State Police as 57-year-old Paula Nuttall, who lived on Main Street in the Oxford County town, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.
Authorities were called to the home at 11:27 a.m., and state police called Nuttall’s death “suspicious,” McCausland said.
McCausland said a family member living in the home, whom he identified as a man but did not name, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to a hospital.
He said state police do not believe the three other family members living in the home were involved in the incident.
McCausland said detectives would gather evidence from the house Saturday night and await the results of an autopsy, which was expected to be performed Sunday.
No other information about the incident was available Saturday night.
