A single-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 1 in Woolwich caused injury to the driver and is playing havoc with traffic along the Mid-coast. More details as they arrive. RACHEL SHELLY / THE TIMES RECORDBRUNSWICK — A Brunswick woman sustained minor injuries in a single car crash along Route 1 in Woolwich this afternoon.

The crash, reported at 3:35 p.m., occurred about a mile north of the
Nequasset Road intersection with Route 1.

Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel
Merry said a 2010 Hyundai driven by Cheryl Dudley, 60, of Brunswick, was
traveling north on Route 1 when the vehicle struck the guardrails on
the right side of the road. Dudley over-corrected, crossed both lanes of
traffic and struck the guardrail along the southbound lane, Merry said.

Dudley, the sole occupant, received minor injuries and was taken to Mid
Coast Hospital in Brunswick. The car was totaled and Merry said traffic
was likely reduced to one lane or the road closed intermittently so
crews could remove the car. No charges were issued.
