HALLOWELL — A former Hall-Dale High School student whose sports store is directly in front of the site of the first Boston Marathon blast on Monday told a Portland TV station he knows exactly where the first device was placed.
“I know the trash can that it was in,” Colin Peddie, owner of Marathon Sports, at 671 Boylston St., told WCSH-TV. “It’s just in front of our store … maybe 10 feet to the right. We were there. I remember putting something in the trash can this morning … at 10 o’clock.
“You read about it around the world, but you never think it’s going to be in front of your business.”
Marathon Sports is a chain of seven stores in the Boston area. Peddie has owned the chain since 1992, according to the company’s website.
Attempts to contact Peddie late Monday were unsuccessful. The web site classmates.com lists Peddie as a 1981 graduate of Hall-Dale High School.
