WEST BATH

Part of a tree that fell on a power pole in West Bath Tuesday night knocked out power for more than 1,000 customers for nearly an hour while Central Maine Power crews worked to replace the pole.

Gail Rice, a spokesperson for CMP, said part of a tree came down in windy conditions on top of a pole located on State Road near Dr. Coffin’s Garage, breaking off the top of the pole.

Power flickered out at 10:22 p.m. for 1,167 customers in Brunswick, West Bath and Bath.

Rice said 872 of those customers had power back on within about 50 minutes as crews isolated the problem. The remaining 295 customers remained without power until about 7:15 a.m. this morning when power was restored.
