PORTLAND – The Portland Sea Dogs enjoyed fine pitching and a Jackie Bradley Jr. home run to beat the Akron Aeros 3-0 Thursday afternoon at sold-out Hadlock Field.

Bradley led off in the first inning and swatted the third pitch from T.J. House (6-3) into the right field pavilion, for his fifth home run in 42 games with Portland.

Marquez Smith scored for the Sea Dogs on an Akron error in the sixth inning.

In the eighth inning, Bryce Brentz singled in Bradley to complete the scoring.

Drake Britton (3-4) pitched five shutout innings to start the game. The left-handed prospect got into a few jams, allowing six hits and three walks, but pitched out of them.

Ryan Pressly and Josh Fields completed the shutout with two innings apiece.

Portland improved to 50-62, while the Aeros dropped to 66-45.

The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field Friday night for a 7 pm. game against the Erie SeaWolves, the Double-A minor league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. Jeremy Kehrt (5-3, 4.50 ERA) will start for Portland.
