South Portland Summer Farmers’ Market, 3-7 p.m. every Thursday, on Hinckley Drive, near Mill Creek Park.

Fact & Fiction in Religion & Science, at 7 p.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Cape Elizabeth. This will be a thoughtful presentation by The Rev. Joel Daniels followed by plenty of time for questions. Topics will include why we think of religion and science as being inherently opposed, and where that idea came from. Free. Cape Elizabeth Strawberry Festival, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Maxwell’s Strawberry Farm, Two Lights Road. The festival features all kinds of food in addition to strawberries, plus dancing to local music, booths with items from local artisans and craftsmen, information about local agriculture and farm activities and plenty of activates for children. Admission is free. Hot air balloon rides 9-11 a.m.

Maine Mall Farmers Market, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., on the corner of Gorham and Philbrook roads every Tuesday.

Saturday, July 7

Yard sale and cookout, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., First Congregational Church of Scarborough, 167 Black Point Road, Scarborough. A combined yard sale, bake sale, and cook-out. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. the Men’s Fellowship will sell hot dogs and hamburgers cooked on site, and serve soft drinks and water.
