“To the Moon, to the Stars” is a collection of 13 acoustic songs from Maine musicians inspired by something they all have in common: parenthood.

But this is not a traditional “kids” record with songs about brushing your teeth and monsters under the bed. Rather, it’s a collection of poignant sentiment and the bottomless well that is a parent’s love for their child. Yes, play it for your kids, but make sure you’re within earshot.

Kind words could be said about every track on here, but there are for sure a few standouts. Christian Hayes wrote “Fiona” about his daughter before she was born. Sara Cox wrote “Green Apple” for her third child, a daughter.

Dave Gutter wrote “Baby Doll” for his daughter to teach her how to overcome adversity (he sings it with Evan Casas). Ellie Chase chose the traditional Irish folk song “In This Heart” and made it her own in tribute to her children. Some other artists on the album include James Day Leavitt, Anna Lombard McGeachey, Greg Klein and Monique Barrett.

All proceeds from the sale of “To the Moon, to the Stars” benefit the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
