BATH
A “Goodbye Y” event scheduled for Monday evening will provide an opportunity for Bath residents and others to bid farewell to the former YMCA building before the city-owned portion is demolished next year.
Bath resident Arthur Mayo, one of several people who organized the event, said the event is designed to be “invitation only,” but that anyone who wants to attend can arrange to do so by calling 443-4112 in advance.
A reception featuring hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will take place in the old gymnasium building owned by Sagadahock Real Estate, Mayo said.
The event will include a slide show and guest speakers.
Donations will be accepted to help pay for the event.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
