Layered rock cello, reggae fun and folk-jazz fill this week’s dance card. Fingers crossed for clear skies, as two of these shows are outside.

It’s flip-flop time in the city. Enjoy.

Oregonian Billy Mickelson’s been making his way here from the other Portland over the past few weeks. The guy who also performs as Third Seven makes his final tour stop at Andy’s Old Port Pub.

Mickelson travels fairly light, and along with his maps and road-trip munchies, he’ll have a microphone, some loop pedals and his piece de resistance — a cello. For the fun of it, I typed his name into YouTube and came across a clip of him playing his cello over some drum and bass loops, and it was PDC (pretty darn cool). I found another clip in which he also sings — and pretty well at that. As for the cello, sometimes he plucks it and sometimes he uses a bow, and on all occasions the sound is soul-dwelling. Such a provocative artist. Welcome to Portland, Mr. Mickelson.

Billy Mickelson. 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Andy’s Old Port Pub, 94 Commercial St., Portland. No cover. All ages. andysoldportpub.com

As we know all too well, summers in Maine, while glorious, can be entirely too short, and in about five minutes we’ll be dragging out the hats and gloves. So there’s no better time to hit the deck at the Porthole and spend a lazy Sunday summer afternoon with Cullu.

Cullu is a local reggae collective that features singers Megan Jo Wilson, Sarah Hallie Richardson and Anna Lombard. Seven other performers play horns, keys, drums, bass and guitar; that’s why “collective” is a better choice than simply “group.” Along with originals, Cullu’s repertoire includes songs from Bob Marley, Erykah Badu, Dawn Penn, Feist, Bjork, Aretha Franklin, Sister Carol, Donny Hathaway and more. Put your flip-flops and shades on and plunk down at The Porthole this and every Sunday for the rest of the summer.

Cullu Reggae. 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The Porthole, 20 Custom House Wharf, Portland. No cover. All ages. portholemaine.com

The Sunset Folk Series at the Western Promenade continues with a performance from Sorcha. “Like” Sorcha on Facebook, and hear her soulful voice on songs such as “Miss Marlene” and “Patience.” Or head to sorchastudio.com for more of her folk-jazz wonderfulness. The final two shows in the series will be from Phantom Buffalo and Will Gattis, so keep your lawn chairs and blankets in the trunk.

Sorcha. 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Western Promenade, Portland. Free. Portlandmaine.com
