Cape Elizabeth and Falmouth are headed to the Western Class B football playoffs and Greely is left out of the field after a three-way coin flip Saturday afternoon to decide the final two spots.
The three teams finished the regular season with 6-3 records, and head-to-head results did not break the tie for third place,
necessitating the coin flip.
The coin flip was used to determine the No. 3 seed, and Cape Elizabeth won. Fourth place was then decided by head-to-head results, and Falmouth got that position based on its 15-14 victory Friday night at Greely.
Mountain Valley (9-0) is the No. 1 seed and will host Falmouth in the regional semifinals. Cape Elizabeth, the defending regional champion,
will visit No. 2 Wells (8-1).
