To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness month, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has scheduled two area walks for Sunday.

In Kittery, the walk is scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m. Sunday, starting at the Tanger Outlet Center. The walk is a three-mile route and registration starts at 8 a.m.

In Portland, the walk starts at 11 a.m. from Monument Square, with registration beginning at 10 a.m. This event is not a race, but rather a walk to honor the strength and courage of breast cancer survivors, all area survivors and their caregivers.

Since its inception, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has established events in more than 145 communities across the country and has raised more than $400 million to fight breast cancer.
