PORTLAND —The Greater Portland Transit District METRO is offering free bus service from Aug. 24 through Sept. 30 to students faculty and staff with a college ID.

Students and staff from Andover College, Maine College of Art, SALT Institute for Documentary Studies, Southern Maine Community College (transfer from METRO to South Portland City Bus), University of New England and University of Southern Maine are eligible.

Maine’s largest public transportation carrier, with service to Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth and the Maine Mall area of South Portland, METRO also connects with  the South Portland City Bus, ZOOM, Intercity ShuttleBus, Concord Coach, Greyhound Bus, Amtrak/Downeaster, Portland Jetport and Casco Bay Lines.
