Whether getting gardening tips, evaluating the energy efficiency of your home or meeting local chefs, visitors to the Northern New England Home, Garden & Flower Show at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds May 16-18 will find one of the most exciting shows yet.
The show features more than 200 exhibitors exhibiting the newest energy efficient products and services for the home and garden, indoor and outdoor displays showcasing power equipment, fencing, boats and recreational sports equipment, commercial garden centers, landscape displays, crafters and artisans.
With 10 garden centers on hand, ideas to plant and beautify your home will be abundant, and those ideas can be explored further during the seminars also held throughout the weekend.
One sight visitors might not want to try to build at home but will not want to miss is the 20 feet by 32 feet railway landscape display created by the Maine Garden Railroad Society. Incorporating ponds, waterfalls, tiny vignettes with scale buildings, vehicles and figures, the garden railway is a scale model of the North Conway Railroad Station, complete with trestles, bridges, trees, stone and real water displays.
The arts will also be on display with the North Star Garden Design Display by David Neufeld of North Star Garden Design. His landscape designs reflect his artistic approach to life, incorporating the practical considerations of materials and location with the desire of his clients for an inspired landscape. Neufeld has designed and built over 100 residential and institutional gardens and has spoken to gardeners throughout New England. Also on display in one of the fairground pavilions will be a variety of art created by local artists using many different media for the work.
For the fourth year, visitors will also get cooking tips in the Meet the Chefs series sponsored by Chick Home Center of North Conway, N.H., with appliances supplied by Viking Appliances and Bay Street Discount of Ossipee, N.H.
